June 28 – July 1, 2011
Explore deep tissue principles and techniques that can be used to treat injuries throughout the whole body.
This class will include the following:
- Anatomical and physiological understanding of muscle health and dysfunction
- Theoretical framework for approaching treatment: the ‘whys’ of treatment
- Review of relevant anatomical structures
- Specific treatment protocols
- Injury prevention
- Client after-care
Current information on, and basic treatment approaches to, the following problems:
- Low back pain
- Gluteal region pain
- Hamstring, groin and quadriceps pain
- Knee pain
- Lower leg, ankle and foot pain
- Mid-back and thoracic pain
- Neck pain
- Headaches
- TMJ
- Whiplash
- Shoulder injuries
- Injuries of the elbow
- Forearm pain
- Wrist pain (including carpal tunnel syndrome
- Hand and thumb pain
This is a great class if you are new or relatively new to deep tissue work or as a comprehensive review/analysis for the experienced deep tissue worker. The detailed, straightforward treatment protocols will help you ‘hit the ground running’ and allow you to treat a variety of problems that you may encounter in your office.
